National Action Plan

The National Action Plan for the Women of Afghanistan (NAPWA) is the main resource for gender mainstreaming in Afghanistan’s government institutions.

Commitments: The NAPWA is a 10-year plan of action by the Government of Afghanistan to implement its commitments to women constituents. These commitments are provided under the Afghan Constitution as well as international treaties such as the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

Implementation: The NAPWA is a high-level benchmark for achieving women’s equal integration into the Government of Afghanistan under the Afghanistan Compact and the Afghanistan National Development Strategy (ANDS).
